Ancor was founded over twenty years ago to solve electrical problems
experienced by mariners as they ventured offshore in large numbers.
General purpose wire and components designed for on shore applications
caused significant problems as electrical systems became more
sophisticated and demanding.
Ancor Marine Grade Products quickly became the system of choice as the
first major supplier of UL listed products designed for the harsh marine
environment. Often imitated, never duplicated, Ancor continues to lead
the industry by providing the most water resistant, flame retardant
wiring products available.
Wire and Cable
Ancor Marine Grade wire is the finest available in the marine industry.
Unsurpassed in corrosion resistance, flexibility, and conductivity,
Ancor Marine Grade wire meets or exceeds all national and international
standards.
- Individual copper wire strands are tinned
- Resists corrosion for salt and moisture found in the marine
environment
- Last up to 10 times longer than non-tinned wire
- Better conductivity than bare copper wire
- Manufactured to American Wire Gauge (AWG) sizes
- Diameter of wire is 12% larger than automotive (SAE) wire
- Larger diameter wire has better current carrying capacity
- Made with Type 3 stranding
- More flexible than Type 2 automotive grade (SAE) wire
- Easier to work with and resists stress fatigue from
vibration
- Approximately 2/3 more stranding which equals better
conductivity
- Proprietary compound used for wire insulation
- Resists salt water, battery acid, oil, gasoline, diesel,
ultra-violet radiation, heat and abrasion
- Better cold-bending ability, heat, shock, flame and chemical
resistance than automotive grade wire
- Compound contains 20% more polymers to prevent scalloping
and increase flexibility.
- Exclusive insulation is rated at 600 volts, 105° C dry and
75° C wet.
Ancor Marine Grade wire exceeds all UL 1426, US Coast Guard Charterboat (CFR Title 46) and ABYC
standards.
Ancor supplies a full line of Marine Grade primary (single conductor)
wire in sizes from 18 AWG to 10 AWG, all in ABYC recommended colors, and
in standard lengths from 8 foot
mini-spools to 1,000 foot bulk spools
Connectors and Terminals
Ancor supplies a full line of nylon, insulated, tinned copper terminals
for the highest quality electrical systems. Ancor's Marine Grade
terminals differ from automotive terminals by being designed for the
harsh marine environment.
- Premium Nylon Insulation
- Won't split or crack like automotive grade vinyl (PVC)
insulation
- Soft enough to crimp and extremely durable
- Resists oil, water, chemicals, acid, and UV rays.
- Manufactured from the highest grade tin-plated electrolytic
copper
- Tinning provides greater corrosion resistance and better
conductivity - which equals less power loss
- Seamless barrel construction
- Prevents the barrel from splitting and the connection from
loosening
- Deep serrations in the barrel
- Grip wire in barrel to prevent connection from loosening or
wire from coming out
- Color coded Nylon insulation
- For safety and ease of identification
- UL listed and CSA certified
- Can be used in vessels specifying UL and CSA products
Cable Ties, Clamps and Mounts
Manufactured from the toughest of materials, pure virgin nylon 6/6. This
Marine Grade nylon is insoluble in common solvents, alkalis, dilute
mineral acids, most organic acids and most petrochemicals.
Constructed with either natural or ultraviolet resistant black nylon in
both standard and mounting head styles with a heavy duty locking
mechanism. Operating temperature range is 100% capacity up to 65° C, 50%
capacity from 65° to 185° C.
